All the Good Things Card

fullsizeoutput_20ec.jpg

This is the final card in my thankful series and let me THANK YOU. Some journeys are longer than others or may have a few more detours. Thank you for being by my side-you are a good thing to me!

My class ‘County Home Decor’ used this stamp set and paper so naturally I thought “what else can I do with it?” Start with that same standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base in Whisper White Cardstock. Add a layer of Country Lane Designer Series Paper. Next stamp the Cat-tail foliage and milk jug image from the County Home Stamp Set on to Whisper White Cardstock in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink. Use a Sponge Dauber and Crushed Curry ink to add a yellow cast to the card. *In retrospect I would not do this again because it tainted the colors after coloring but if you like the 1970’s photo look- go for it *

Color the image with the following Stampin’ Blends Markers: Light & Dark Smokey Slate, Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler, Light and Dark Old Olive, Bronze, Dark Crumb Cake, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Dark Highland Heather.

Let me just take a moment to wax poetic here about the Stampin’ Blends Markers. Even though I bought the whole set of Stampin’ Write Markers I never loved coloring with them, my pictures always looked like a 5 year old did it. Using them for inking stamps in separate colors and writing out cards- YES but not coloring. My outlook on coloring with markers has done a total 180 with Stampin’ Blends…. I LOVE THEM FOR COLORING!!! You will too. Ok off soap box back to the card.

**Technique alert: Partial Die Cutting. Using the Big Shot with the normal sandwich (base, plate, paper, die, plate) off set the top plate so the edge lines up with the area on the die which you wish to stop cutting at.

Cut out the image with the oval Stitched Shapes Framelits then fussy cut the remainder. Adhere using snail adhesive and use your finger to curl up the cat-tails. Distress the area under and around the image with a dry Early Espresso Sponge Dauber.

Cut a width of Vellum 4 1/4 inches long and wide enough to fit the sentiment from the set. Stamp in Early Espresso Ink and allow to dry- feel free to use a Heat Tool on low to speed up the process. Once dry adhere to the outside edge only with Liquid Multipurpose Glue (AKA Tombow).

The following cards were made at Stamping in the Woods with Linda Bauwin, my up line. I credit her with the design (even if I didn’t follow it exactly). Thanks a Bunch Card

fullsizeoutput_20ea.jpg

Spreading thanks is a part of this time of the year. It is so simple to change someone’s day in ways we can’t even imagine with a small token of appreciation. Any who has received a handmade card or gift truly feels loved.

Cut a standard size card base (5 1/2 by 8 1/2) in Soft Suede using a Stampin’ Trimmer. Fold in half on the long side and sharpen the crease with a Bone Folder. Cut a base layer (4 x 5 1/4) from Natures’ Poem Designer Series Paper. Ink the flower bunch image from Wood Words in Versa Mark Ink and stamp on the top 1/3 line of the card of the Nature’s Poem Paper. Coat with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Don’t worry about any stray powder, it will only add to the Americana feel of this card. Melt embossing powder with the Heat Tool.

**Technique alert: Emboss resist. Using Soft Suede ink on a Sponge Dauber rub color over and around the embossed image after cooled. Rub a tissue or paper towel to remove any excess ink from the Image.**

To get the shadow around the image use the above technique. Also, apply ink to the edges of the designer series paper to help antique the card.

**Technique alert: Antiquing foil paper. Using a nail file scratch surface of Silver foil paper and rub Soft Suede Ink into the paper using a sponge dauber.**

Antique a small scrap piece of Silver Foil with the above technique. Using Stazon Ink stamp “Thanks a Bunch” from the Wood Words Stamp set. With a Big Shot and the smallest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits set cut out the sentiment. Adhere with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Color a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine with the dauber from before WITHOUT reining- we want a very dry dauber so less color will transfer. Just as the technique shows in the Painted Harvest Card Post. Viola! Antique Twine. Adhere with a Mini Glue Dot.

Painted Harvest Fall Card

fullsizeoutput_20f0.jpg We are steppin’ up this stamping only card with a little embellishing. This card has TWO techniques you can use anywhere!

The base is Crushed Curry. Adhere opposing layers of Country Lane Designer Series with Snail adhesive. For the foliage using the fern image from the Painted Harvest set stamp off the first larger image using Mossy Meadow Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock-do this 3 times. Ink the inner fern with Mossy Meadow Ink and stamp over the first image to give it dimension and texture.

** Technique alert: Stamping Off. Ink your stamp in your color choice. Stamp on a scrap paper then on to your cardstock- that’s it. Still not confident? Watch the video here **

Doing the same technique with the same ink stamp the leaf image and punch out with the Leaf Punch. Stamp two acorns and cut out with Paper snips. Don’t let the sunflower intimidate you- it is super easy with the photopolymer stamps especially since the cardstock is Very Vanilla makes it easy to line up. Stamp the base of the petals (the one without the heart shape) then the top layer all in Fresh Fig. Yep that is it. The center seed area texture is part of the stamp which means all you do is ink it in Crumb Cake and stamp. Then do the same with the dotted pattern. Sadly, there is no die or punch for the flower so again fussy it cut it out. To adhere the leaf and one of the fern pieces I started with Stampin’ Dimensionals  which will lift the flower up and Snail Adhesive applied to the back of the sunflower for the leaves. Before sticking down the flower take a strip of Velum and stamp the sentiment in Fresh Fig. SET IT ASIDE TO DRY or use a heat tool/hair dryer. While the sentiment dries color White Baker’s Twine with Fresh Fig Ink.

**Technique alert: Twine coloring. Press the top of a twine string into a stamp pad and pull the length across the pad use a scrap of cardstock or sponge dauber. Rotate the twine and repeat until the desired look is achieved.**

Once the sentiment is dry place adhesive on the left side of the Vellum as it will show thru but be covered by the sunflower. Adhere the remainder of ferns and acorns to the base followed by the sunflower. Tie the now dry twine in a bow and adhere with a Glue Dot.

October Paper Pumpkin Extras

fullsizeoutput_20ba

Did your Paper Pumpkin arrive damaged too? No worries- even with a bit of crinkled and crunched feathers there was still more than plenty of extras (actually, there is still more after these cards)! The kit contained all the stamps/sentiments, die cuts, ribbons, Night of Navy Ink Spot, adhesive dots, mini dimensionals and self adhesive sequins. I started with a few left over Very Vanilla Note Cards/Envelopes added a few stamp backgrounds, ink and some inspiration.
