Shut the Front Door

IT’S NEW YEARS! This year has gone by so quickly (I think I say that every year). There is a little background to the left hand card. My best friend Kim Aldridge is very fond of non traditionally colored holiday cards so each year I have tried to create a card with her in mind. Now we have a Gorgeous Grape Door.

Start with Whisper White for the base which is then covered with the Brick Pattern Party Mask and daub with Basic Gray Ink. Stamp the door from the At Home With You Bundle in Basic Gray on watercolor paper. Using an Aqua Painter color the door Gorgeous Grape. Adhere an Iridescent Boxwood Wreath Embellishments to the door with glue dots and Stamp the inside in with the sentiment of your choice in Gorgeous Grape. This card says celebrate the season but it can be changed for any sentiment such as “congrats” for a new home owner.

Thinking of you this season is the last “holiday” card for the year but like the door card the sentiment can be changed out for any occasion. CASE’d from Debbie Dam Prims.

The base is Mossy Meadow and is a SINGLE 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece. Cut a separate piece of Whisper White Card stock in half on the short side and turn the fold so it is on the left side. With the wave die cut the hill on the top of the card and remove by manually cutting it at the fold and reserve for later use. Open the card and stamp the background trees in Gray Granite. Stamp the pine trees for the background and one on the reserved piece in Mossy Meadow. Cut out the tree from the reserved piece with the die and big shot. Adhere the cut out tree after lifting the boughs for texture to the front of the card and adhere Metallic Pearls to accent. Stamp the sentiment of choice.

Double cards are quick and eye catching. Both cards have Sahara Sand bases, Joyous Noel Speciality Designer Series paper backgrounds and a 3 x 4 accent of Tranquil Tide cardstock. Adhere a strip of multipurpose adhesive sheets prior to cutting JOY out of a 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 piece of Copper Foil with the big shot. Adhere the foil pieces  to the Tranquil tide base and then to the base with dimensionals. You could probably make these cards in the time it would take to read this post.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy

I am completely in love with the earthy natural look of these cards.

The base of the left card is Sahara Sand Cardstock. The next layer is a 4 x 5 1/4  Sahara Sand that has been color embossed using the Pinewood Planks embossing folder inked with Soft Suede just as we did in yesterday’s post. A ribbon of Striped Burlap Trim holds the wreath but the focal piece of the left card is the wreath. This was created by coloring the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Old Olive Ink on Whisper White cardstock. Fussy cut the outside edge and adhere to the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the sentiment from Mistletoe Season Stamp set in Old Olive on Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the Layering Circles Framelits Dies. Adhere the sentiment to the wreath with dimensionals. Place Red Rhinestones around the wreath and accent with a  bow of Real Red 1/8′ solid ribbon.

For the card on the right start with a base of Soft Suede cardstock. The second layer is Very Vanilla stamped with Crumb Cake Ink using the Sheet Music Stamp. Distress the edges with Crumb Cake Ink and a sponge.  To stamp the pine boughs and sentiment use the Christmas Pines Stamp set and Garden Green Ink. The pinecone is made from the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper, Soft Suede cardstock and the dies from the bundle with a dimensional to adhere. The final touch is the Merry Merlot & Copper Reversible Ribbon bow.

Dashing Deer Cards

Deer are everywhere (Especially here in North East Ohio- only those are the real ones)! Both cards feature the Dashing Dear Bundle with the Foil Edged Cards and Envelopes.

Starting with the super simple card on the left cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to just fit inside the silver foil. Of course I didn’t write down the measurements on my cheat sheet but I would guess 3 3/4 x 5. Stamp the patterned deer in Mint Macaron (I love this color and am so glad they brought it back). Emboss the stamped image with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in the Big Shot. Adhere the cardstock to the card base with snail. Make a bow with the Mint Macaron Nature’s Twine and adhere with a glue dot.

For the card on the right cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock 3 1/2 inches square. Using the technique below with Rich Razzelberry and the Swirls and Curls embossing folder emboss the cardstock. Cut into a circular shape using Layering Circles

Technique Alert: Colored Embossing Folder. Ink the side of the embossing folder marked with the Stampin’ Up! Logo. Place the card stock inside and emboss via the big shot.

Using the thinlits cut the deer out of gold glimmer paper. **TIP- place the backside of the glimmer paper to the cutting side of the die. Your image will cut cleaner and be easier to remove from the die** Cut a small ribbon of gold foil sheet. Cut a square of Whisper White cardstock 1 x 3 and stamp the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry. Adhere everything with snail except the deer use dimensionals.

Merry and Bright

savingPNG If your family is anything like mine holiday celebrations may not always fall on the day of the holiday. With that in mind let’s keep this festive feeling going a little while longer.

The first bundle in the holiday catalog Merry Christmas to All was the first item on my wish list. Cherry Cobbler is the star of this show so I made a standard base of cardstock folding it on the horizontal. Layer All is Bright Designer Series Paper (DSP). Prior to cutting out the merry from Joyous Noel Glimmer paper using the  Merry Christmas thinlits and a big shot adhere a piece of multipurpose adhesive sheet to the back of the glimmer paper. This will create an instant sticker. Stamp “& Bright” on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Cherry Cobbler and cut out using the coordinating thinlit.

To put the cards together adhere the DSP to the base with snail adhesive. Apply a strip of Suite Season Designer Washi tape to the bottom 1/3 of the card. Adhere the “& Bright ” tag to the washi tape and place the “Merry” on an angle across all the layers.
