Handmade Cards, Sympathy, Technique

Tucker’s Sympathy Card

savingPNG.jpeg

It’s never easy saying good bye. Sadly, my parents said good bye to Australian Blue Healer, Tucker. His favorite game involved a ball hung from an old tree hung in the back yard. This tree from the Rooted in Nature Set reminds of that tree so in their card I hand drew that ball hanging from a limb. Personally, I choose to look at these sad events in life and remember the funny times shared. Tucker will always be outside under the tree playing what nana and papa called “beat a brain”. It sort of looks like playing Whack -a-Mole only you are the mole.

Items Used:

  • Stamp Set: Rooted in Nature & Lasting Lilly
  • Base: Very Vanilla Thick folded 8.5 x 5 1/2
  • Ink: Versamark, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow & Tuxedo Black Momento
  • Embossing: Black Embossing Powder & Heat Tool
  • Tools & Accessories:  Bone folder, Clear Block E, Stamping Sponges, Stampin’ Trimmer

Make It Yourself:

  1. Cut Very Vanilla at the 5 1/2 mark along the 11 side, fold and burnish with the bone folder to make the base.
  2. Ink the tree image in Versamark and stamp the base.
  3. Cover Versamark with Black Embossing Powder and heat until shinny with the Heat Tool.
  4. Once the card is cool sponge just under the tree with Mossy Meadow.
  5. Sponge Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry in sections going up to the top of the card. **Sponging ink over an embossed image is a technique called: EMBOSS RESIST**
  6. Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Momento at the bottom of the card.

Anniversary/Love/Valentine's/Wedding, Handmade Cards, Technique

2 Flower Techniques you must try.

IMG_7864-2

I LOVE THIS CARD! It wasn’t what I set out to make, it just sort of came together and I could not be more pleased. Now if only they all made me this happy ;). So what worked differently than Thursday’s flowers? Let me tell you about the 2 techniques for making flowers your must try!

  1. Separate Color Stamping. This is the technique I used on the largest flower.
    • Stamp the image in Old Olive on a scrap of Very Vanilla then clean the stamp.
    • Stamp the image again only in Costal Cabana on a scrap of Very Vanilla.
    • Using the die and a Big Shot cut out the Old Olive image.
    • Using Paper Snips cut out the flower only from the Costal Cabana image.
    • Color the main flower using Stampin Blends light and dark Pool Party and Costal Cabana.
    • Cut out the main flower from the leaves.
    • Use a Dimensional to POP up the flower on top of the Old Olive stamped flower.
  2. Coloring with Stamp & Write Marker. The two smaller flowers were with this technique that is some times called “huffing”.
    • Color the leaves in Old olive followed by the flower in Costal Cabana.
    • Breathe heavy or “huff” on the stamp, the moisture from your breath will reactivate the ink.
    • Stamp image and color.

Handmade Cards, Spring, Technique

One Card That Will WOW Even Your Mother-In-Law

savingPNG
Do you ever see something and say “Wow, I have got to make THAT” (Isn’t that the whole point of Pinterest?). When Stampin’ Up! released  the Sale-a-bration catalog that is EXACTLY how I felt about the Organdy ribbon sample card below. 2019_SAB_P07_BSo I watched every YouTube Video I could find then got out my hot glue gun and proceeded to “spider web” myself, desk, ok pretty much my whole office. Such is everything I do with a hot glue gun. Once the strings were cleared away these perfect rosettes lay on my silicone craft sheet begging to be paired with the right stamp, ink and paper. Now, I have not made another since (the burns have to heal first) but with new found confidence there may be a garden of flowers here before spring! Please don’t think this card isn’t for you if you were not able to order the ribbon before it sold out. This technique can be done with any ribbon!

Handmade Cards, Holiday Themed, Technique, Winter

Dashing Deer Cards

Deer are everywhere (Especially here in North East Ohio- only those are the real ones)! Both cards feature the Dashing Dear Bundle with the Foil Edged Cards and Envelopes.

Starting with the super simple card on the left cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to just fit inside the silver foil. Of course I didn’t write down the measurements on my cheat sheet but I would guess 3 3/4 x 5. Stamp the patterned deer in Mint Macaron (I love this color and am so glad they brought it back). Emboss the stamped image with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in the Big Shot. Adhere the cardstock to the card base with snail. Make a bow with the Mint Macaron Nature’s Twine and adhere with a glue dot.

For the card on the right cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock 3 1/2 inches square. Using the technique below with Rich Razzelberry and the Swirls and Curls embossing folder emboss the cardstock. Cut into a circular shape using Layering Circles

Technique Alert: Colored Embossing Folder. Ink the side of the embossing folder marked with the Stampin’ Up! Logo. Place the card stock inside and emboss via the big shot.

Using the thinlits cut the deer out of gold glimmer paper. **TIP- place the backside of the glimmer paper to the cutting side of the die. Your image will cut cleaner and be easier to remove from the die** Cut a small ribbon of gold foil sheet. Cut a square of Whisper White cardstock 1 x 3 and stamp the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry. Adhere everything with snail except the deer use dimensionals.

Season of Sweets

savingPNG

If you are anything like me holidays are always surrounded by sweets. Christmas is baklava, New Years is Cream Cheese balls filled with chips of chocolate, candy and nuts, Valentine’s is Whitman’s samplers, Easter is Cadbury Cream Eggs, Summer holidays are Cannoli Dip at the campground and lots of scoops of ice cream, then it’s on to birthday cake, Halloween candy and pecan pie for Thanksgiving! Let’s not forget 3 o’clock chocolate time at work. Woo I think I gained 20 lbs just writing it all down.

Celebrate your sweet season with a calorie free card that you can whip up in a flash using a Stampartus!

Cut a sheet of Real Red cardstock at the 5 1/2 inch mark along the long side of the paper using a personal trimmer. Fold in half and crease with a bone folder. Next cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Using your Stamparatus stamp the large Candy Cane image from the Candy Cane Season Stamp set using the repeat stamping technique. moving the plate down 1 hinge for each stamp. I started with the outline then the stripes but either way works. To position the stripes I stamped the outline 1st then laid the stripes in position on the outline and picked the stamp up with the Stamparatus plate. Much like we did with the block in this video. Easy peasy two step stamping.

*Technique Alert: Repeat Stamping.  Ink your image once. Stamp each subsequent image WITHOUT reinking. The ink will be visible for at least 4 stampings maybe more.

Stamp the sentiment and if you choose color the 1st candy cane’s red stripes with Wink of Stella for some extra pop. #simplestamping
