Handmade Cards, Retired Gems

Simple and Sweet

This little piggy … he says happy birthday! A simple and sweet card perfect for a 2 year old’s birthday. Cut and fold a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (100730) to a vertical 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 standard card base. Layer coordinating paper rectangles measuring 4 x 5 1/4 and 3 x 4 **Disclaimer the Garden Green Paper is retired** feel free to choose whatever paper you have. Stamp the pig image from the This Little Piggy Stamp Set (143922) on a 3 x 4 piece of whisper white cardstock in Momento Ink (132708). Create the background using an Aqua Painter (103954) with Balmy Blue Ink (147105) for the sky and Call Me Clover Ink (147139) for grass. Color the pig with Stampin’ Blends Ivory (144606), Flirty Flamingo Combo (147278) and Light Soft Suede (146874). Finish the front by tying a bow out of Whisper White Baker’s Twine (124262) and adhere with a balled up Mini Glue Dot (103683). Stamp the inside with an appropriate sentiment, in this case I chose happy birthday from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp Set (143662) in Call Me Clover.

Handmade Cards, Holiday Themed

‘Tis the Season Challenge Card 3

In the last 2 posts I focused on using holiday items for non-holiday cards. This one is doing just the opposite, can you guess the non holiday item? It’s easy to see that the paper is the item in question and it comes from the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper pack (146284).

To start make a standard base (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) with Whisper White Cardstock (100730). Next cover the about 2/3 of the base with the designer series paper. Don’t be afraid, the next bit gets a little tricky. Using Versa Mark Ink (102283), Stampin’ Emboss White Powder (109132) and the Lovely as a Tree stamp set (127793) stamp BOTH the stary paper and a 5 1/2 wide piece of Whisper White (100730) making sure the images will line up on the card base. The height of the whisper white cardstock doesn’t really matter as you only need the from the “ground” down. Heat emboss both. Trim the whisper white cardstock to remove the upper portion of the trees. Cover the bottom 1/3 with the trimmed piece. ~Whew the hard part is over.~ Paint the whisper white cardstock with Wink of Stella (141897) to give the card extra shimmer. Next once the wink of Stella is dry, stamp the sentiment ‘Tis the Season from the Christmas Pines stamp set (142049) in Night of Navy Ink (147110). For the final touch add some snowflake embellishments from  Santa’s Workshop Enamel Shapes (147811).

Having made only 1 of these it didn’t dawn on me how much easier it would be to make multiple of this card with the Stamparatus (146276). In fact holiday cards was my reason to purchase my Stamparatus.

Beautiful Promenade Challenge Card 2

Ok so first off I will say, yes it is a BIG photo. Hopefully, this will help show the detail. This is the second challenge card with the intent to show holiday items are not just for the holidays. Where’s the holiday? It’s the paper of course Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper 147816.  This paper packet features fabulous copper foil accents (say that fast three times). Now lets talk about the other layers to this card. First all good bases start with a little lace (right ladies) Beautiful Layers Thinlets 147043 lace die in Merry Merlot Cardstock 146979. Followed  by a sash of Merry Merlot & Copper REVERSIBLE Ribbon 147818. What wait reversible? Yep you read that right copper on one side and merry merlot on the other. On to the foliage, die cut and 1/2 of the leaves stamped from the Beautiful Promenade Bundle 146842. The copper accent leaves are from the Leaves Trinkets 146343 that also coordinate with the Rooted in Nature Bundle 148353. The feature flower is from the Beautiful Promenade Bundle 146842 first stamped in Merry Merlot Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad 147112 followed by Versamark Ink 102283 and Copper Embossing Powder 141636.
